Aggies still seek first district win of season. LULING – Playing off of emotions after the loss of their Head Coach Robert Dean, the Luling Eagles flew past the Poteet Aggies 34-10 on Friday. Poteet (3-3, 0-2 in Dist. 27-3A) is still looking for its first district win and the competition isn’t getting any easier. The Aggies will host Somerset (5-2, 1-1) on Friday at Aggie Stadium with the Bulldogs coming off of its first district loss to La Vernia 28-9. Luling scored first on a 25-yard run by Craig Mager to open the second quarter. Poteet answered with a 28-yard field goal by Domingo Casias to cut into the lead 8-3. The Eagles took the momentum with them into halftime, scoring a 26-yard touchdown pass from Braxton Allen to Billy Medford. A 2-point conversion pass from Allen to Medford increased the lead 16-3 at the break. Mager added a 75-yard TD run in the third quarter before Chris Stahl capped two 8-yard TD runs to give Luling a comfortable 34-3 lead to begin the fourth quarter. Brian Escalante scored Poteet’s only touchdown, a 6-yard run midway through the fourth quarter. Rey Estrada led the Aggies rushing with 77 yards on 12 carries. Joe Sanchez finished with 56 yards on 18 carries. Tailback Matt Santos was held to a season low 46 yards on 16 carries. |
