George West blanks Jourdanton Daniel Elizondo, Sports Editor - Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Indians still have playoff hopes with Natalia next. GEORGE WEST – The Jourdanton Indians aren’t folding the season by any means just yet. Even though the top notch George West Longhorns (7-0, 3-0 in Dist. 31-2A) pulled out a 28-0 shutout over the Indians, it certainly isn’t the end of the road for Jourdanton. Jourdanton (4-4, 2-2) will look for two more victories in district to ensure a spot in the playoffs. “I think that we will bounce back just fine,” said Jourdanton Head Coach Wayne Johnson. “The attitude is good because the kids know they played hard” Jourdanton will look for a victory over Natalia (2-5, 0-3) on Friday at Indian Stadium. The Mustangs are coming off of a bye week. George West dominated Jourdanton from start to finish gaining 334 yard rushing on the Indians. The Longhorns defense held the Indians to 107 total yards of offense. Jourdanton’s leading rusher was Robert Lopez gaining 51 yards on eight carries against George West. |
