The 2009-10 Pleasanton Hall of Honor inductees were honored on Friday before the start of the Pleasanton Eagles game against Medina Valley at Eagle Stadium.

Pam Bomar Schuchart (athlete), Gerald Trevino (athlete), Henry Gonzales (coach) and Sonny Sralla (fan) were honored with their dedication to Pleasanton athletics.

Pam Bomar Schuchart, athlete 1976-1980
Pam Bomar Schuchart became one of Pleasanton’s premier athletes as a standout volleyball and basketball player for what was then called the Eaglettes.

Pam lettered three years in basketball. Her senior year, the Eaglettes went 25-3 under Head Coach Louis Rech in 1979-80.

But her junior year, the Eaglettes set a record winning 32-straight games before losing to Sweeney in the bidistrict playoffs, finishing the year 32-1.

Both Pam’s junior and senior years, the Eaglettes earned 13-3A district championships and zone championships.

Pam was also a member of the volleyball Eaglettes her junior and senior years.

She earned All-District honors in both basketball and volleyball.

Pam was also a member of the Pleasanton track team, running hurdles her junior and senior years.
Today, Pam is currently employed with Pleasanton ISD.

Her two sons have followed in the footsteps of their mother. Her oldest Trent graduated in the spring of 2009 and was a standout football player for the Pleasanton Eagles. Her youngest, Garret, is a senior at Pleasanton High School and is a standout football and basketball player.

Gerald Trevino, athlete 1986-1990

In the late 1980s, one name stood out in Pleasanton athletics. Rated as an exceptional athlete of his time, Gerald Trevino was just that during his high school athletic career.

Even though Gerald excelled as an overall athlete, he had one love and that was baseball.

Gerald certainly made a name for himself, having earned four letters on varsity baseball which ultimately led to him signing a contract to play professional baseball with the Atlanta Braves system upon his graduation.

Gerald played four years for the Pleasanton Eagles baseball team and shined his senior year, leading the Eagles as a pitcher going 10-3 as a starter and led at the plate with five triples, nine doubles, 12 homeruns and 36 RBIs. He broke a single season record for the most homeruns hit by an Eagle. That record still stands today. He completed his senior year batting .486.

His senior season, the Pleasanton Eagles reached the regional finals ranked no. 1in the state in class 4A. They lost to Robstown, a team ranked no. 2.

As a junior, Gerald pitched two no-hitters and was selected unanimously as an All-District selection with an 8-4 pitching record, a 1.17 ERA and batting .424. As a sophomore, he pitched one no-hitter.
Gerald also lettered three years on the track team his freshman, sophomore and junior years, having earned a spot on the 1,600-meter relay team.

The 1,600-meter relay team, also consisting of Mike Green, Billy Martinez and Shane Gregorczyk, qualified for the state track meet during Gerald’s junior year. That same year, this relay team broke a school record at the 29-4A district meet with a time of 3:25.27 and at the regional meet, they broke their own record with a time of 3:22.39.

As a sophomore and junior, Gerald played on varsity football. His junior year, he was named to the All Southwest Texas State team as a running back.

Gerald played four years in the Atlanta Braves farm team, the Bradenton Braves of the Gulf Coast League. He was drafted as a second baseman and played alongside Chipper Jones, who was drafted as a shortstop.

When he was released in 1993, he played one year with the Independent League Lafayette Leopards in Lafayette Indiana.

Today, Gerald currently resides in Mansfield, Texas.

Henry Gonzales, Head Basketball Coach, 1988-1999

Henry Gonzales led Pleasanton to one of the most successful boys basketball team’s season in 1990.
Gonzales became Pleasanton’s boys head basketball coach in 1988 and held that position for 11 seasons. His final season was the 1998-99 season.

His first season as coach, Gonzales coached the team to a 20-10 season and improved on his next season, leading the team to a 27-6 record and capturing a district championship with a 10-0 record.
In his third season, the Eagles became the most successful boys basketball team in school history, in the 1990-91 season.

Then, Pleasanton finished with an impressive 25-9 record including a 9-1 district record for his second consecutive district championship.

Pleasanton reached the regional semifinals that season defeating Gregory-Portland and Brownsville Rivera before dropping a decision to Alamo Heights.

Sonny Sralla, fan

Sonny Sralla was by far an avid Pleasanton Eagles fan.

Though he was blessed with an athletic life, he not only enjoyed Pleasanton sports, he got to see his children excel as well.

Sralla could be found at any Pleasanton High School function, but his love was baseball.

Even wearing his favorite baseball cap that became old and ragged over the years was irreplaceable. It was his lucky hat of sorts and he never would change that.

Sonny was born in 1939 and was a graduate of Pleasanton High School.

He passed away on June 23, 2003.

Accepting this honor for Sonny were his wife Shirley, daughter Laurie and her two sons Buster and Sonny. Unable to attend was his son Rick, an assistant coach at Kerrville Tivy High School.
