First Baptist Church-Pleasanton First Baptist Church Community Fall Festival is coming up quick on Sat., October 31. This year’s event includes several churches from the area and has a lot to offer to families. The event will be held at the Pleasanton River Park this year from 6-9 pm. We will be having free fajitas, hotdogs, games, candy and entertainment for the whole family. We will also have some great giveaways, such as an IPOD shuffle and gift cards. We are excited about making this event totally free to anyone that wants to come. Grab your kids and come join in the fun down at the Pleasanton River Park on October 31. This will be a great time for the whole family and we will have lots of candy and prizes to give away to the kids and parents. Retama Manor Pleasanton South Join the folks at Retama Manor Pleasanton South for their Fall Festival on Saturday, October 24. It is located at 905 W. Oaklawn in Pleasanton. There will be lots of fun, food and games from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Poteet Fall Fun Fair The Poteet Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its Fall Fun Fair this Saturday, October 24, in front of the library. The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. Bring the children to see the pumpkin patch. There will be free pumpkins for the first 100 children and they will have the opportunity to paint them.There will be a costume contest and $200 in gift certificates given out. Popcorn and icees will be available for purchase and children can play a variety of games. Proceeds will benefit the Poteet Public Library. Retama Manor Jourdanton Come join the fun at the Retama Manor Jourdanton Safe Halloween on Thursday, October 29. The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. and there is no charge to attend. Children from newborns to age 14 are invited to participate in the costume contest. Join them for a frightfully fun haunted house. There will be game booths, cotton candy, popcorn and prizes. Retama Manor Jourdanton is located at 1504 Oak St. (Highway 97). Tendercare Pumpkin Fest The children and teachers at Tendercare Learning Center in Jourdanton are making big plans for their 3rd annual fall celebration called Pumpkin Fest on Tuesday, October 27, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The late afternoon activities will begin at 5:30 on the large playgrounds. The pre-school play areas will be buzzing with excitement as parents and children enjoy a variety of games: ring toss, fish pond, bean bag toss, roping dummy, face painting, apple dunk, bucket toss and basketball throw, duck pond, cupcake walk and clay pot art. Don’t worry about supper as the teachers will be serving up hot dogs and chips, sodas and water. The celebration will begin with the judging of carved and decorated pumpkins and a costume contest at 6 p.m. Participants in both contests will be judged on Most Original, Prettiest, Funniest, Scariest and Most Unusual. Leading up to this celebration each age group has been exploring colors in the environment, learning all about the growth of pumpkins and the traditions of Halloween. The public is invited to attend and participate in these fun activities. They are sure you will have a great time. Fall Fest at FBC-Poteet First Baptist Church in Poteet invites everyone to attend their free Fall Festival on October 31, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A safe alternative to trick-or-treating will be offered. There will be lots of games for children, candy, prizes and food. Call the church office at 742-3856 for more information. Carnival at Showbarn Atascosa County Girl Scouts are getting ready for their 14th annual Halloween Carnival. This year it will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 from 3-7 p.m. at the Atascosa County Showbarn between Jourdanton and Pleasanton on Hwy 97. Admission is only 50¢! If your non-profit group would like to participate contact Gail Goslin at 830-769- 2344 for booth information. Cowboy Fellowship, There will be a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 31 at the Jourdanton City Park. Partnering with Cowboy Fellowship of Atascosa County for this year’s festival activities are Community Bible Chapel in Pleasanton and Jourdanton First Baptist Church. The fun begins at 6 p.m. at the park and will include a variety of activity booths. The food, candy and entertainment will be provided free of charge. |
