ACT Theatre presents play, dinner theatre that pokes fun at Texans.

Picture yourself in a church, but this isn’t any church. It is the Tabernacle of the Lamb Church in the beloved fictional town of Fayro, Texas. You are surrounded by your family, loved ones and close friends.

Decorations are in place and the wedding party is ready, but where, oh where, are the bride and groom?

Such is the scene set for the lighthearted comedic play presented by ACT Theatre over the next two weekends. The first dinner theatre (Sat. Oct. 24) sponsored by the Atascosa Republican Women has already sold out, but there are still tickets available for the Oct. 31st dinner sponsored by the Atascosa-McMullen Retired School Personnel. Tickets are $25 and dinner begins at 6 p.m. Contact Dot Vrana at 830-569-1991 for advanced tickets.

Other dates are: Friday, Oct. 23 and 30 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. Admission is only $10 or $8 for senior citizens.

Director Peggy Schulze promises if you liked the play “Dearly Departed” presented by the troupe a few years ago, you will simply love “Dearly Beloved” written by one of the same playwrights as “Departed,” Jessie Jones. Collaborating with Jones on “Beloved” are Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten.

The play, presented in two acts includes a colorful cast of characters played by well seasoned actors and a few fresh faces.

They are (in order of appearance):
Miss Geneva Musgrave - Tannah Tolbirt
Tannah Tolbirt’s most recent role was that of local Madam in Gargoyles and Scare Crow Sins.

Tina Jo & Gina Jo (GJ) Dubberly - Amy McDonald
Amy was in ACT’s last play, The Senator Wore Panty Hose, and was just adorable.

Honey Raye Futrelle - Anne Boggess
Anne has been in numerous ACT productions, including musicals and most recently the beautician in Gargoyles.

Frankie Futrelle Dubberly - Jane Stewart
Jane is a newcomer on the ACT stage and has worked very hard on her part as Frankie.

Dub Dubberly - Dick Boyle
Dick has returned to the theatre after retiring last year from his job. His last role was that of the Reverend in The Senator Wore Panty Hose.
Twink Futruelle- Fran Holland
Fran needs no introduction to the ACT stage. She sings, she dances, she acts...she’s perfect.

Nelda Lightfoot - Linda Metcalfe
Linda has worked behind the stage and now, she is getting her time to shine onstage.

Justin Waverly - Chris Reyes
Chris may be the ACT clown during rehearsals, but he plays his part to the hilt.

John Curtis Buntner - Sandy Locke
Sandy debuted with The Senator Wore Panty Hose. If you thought his tough boy Jersey character was good, wait until you see his highway patrolman.

Wiley Hicks - Christian Williams
Christian is another new member of ACT. He has helped give a facelift to the exterior of our building, and you will enjoy him having fun with his character.

Patsy Price - Peggy Schulze
Peggy is no newcomer to the ACT stage and as director in this play, she admits to typecasting herself as the villainess mother-in-law.

Behind the scenes folks are very important to a production. They include:
Costumes - Beth Topp
Backstage- LaRue Dobbins
Lighting-Chris McDonald
Concessions - Shirley Boyle
Ticket Sales- Ouida Lynn Wisdom
Program/Poster - Ouida Lynn Wisdom
