Congressman Henry Cuellar: Atascosa Co. Post Offices to remain open

Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-Laredo) expressed his support for the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) announcement that Atascosa will not suffer post office closures. Previously, the USPS had announced that it would close many of its smallest post offices, including the Campbellton and Christine Post Offices in Atascosa County.

Appraisal notices for 2012 are on their way to property owners

If your property value increased in the last year by $1,000 or more, you will soon receive an appraisal notice from the Atascosa County Appraisal District. The appraisal district began mailing appraisal notices on May 14, 2012. Your city, county, school district and other local taxing units will use the appraisal district’s value to set your 2012 property taxes.

Commissioners discuss Voting Dist. 23, printing maps

At the May 14 meeting, Atascosa County Commissioners entered into the minutes that the Voting District 23 census block is split so that it remains contiguous.

Commissioner Lon Gillespie explained there was a problem when Pct. 1 was shifted. Where Stacey Road comes into Eichman Road, it did not allow Pct. 2 to connect there, said Gillespie.
