On Sunday, May 20, at 8:30 a.m. there will be a mass for Kiki (Keith) Hernandez. It will be the one-year anniversary of his death. He was killed by a drunk driver on May 8, 2011 on Mother’s Day. The mass will be at the Catholic church in Leming Sunday morning.

Camino Real Art Contest

In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, Camino Real Community Services is holding an art contest, open to adults and children with or in recovery from mental illness.

Any form of art will be accepted- sketches, paintings, sculptures. Prizes will be awarded to the first place adult and first place child. Contestants will be contacted after May 25 with the results.

Cowboy Jamboree time

The Cowboy Jamboree will be held on Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Poteet, (Hw 16, just north of town). There will be live music and dancing. Admission is free, and the public is welcome!

Performers will be Rusty Henley and the Crossfire Band and guests.
