The Pleasanton City Council has determined that an exclusive franchise agreement, contract, and ordinance are necessary to preserve or protect public health of the citizens of Pleasanton and its extra territorial boundaries in Atascosa County, Texas, and BFI Waste Services of Texas, L.P., d.b.a. Allied Waste Services of San Antonio, d.b.a. Republic Services of San Antonio, is agreeable to providing for the collection, removal, and disposal of solid waste.

The ordinance, including the contract and rates, is available for inspection at the City Hall during regular business hours.

REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE SEALED PROPOSALS

Poteet Independent School District is requesting Competitive Sealed Proposals for Phase 3 Additions and Renovations for the Intermediate and Junior High campuses located at 1100 School Drive, Poteet, TX 78065.

Notice is hereby given that two public hearings will be held by the Pleasanton City Council for the purpose of considering annexation of approximately 236± acres of land located generally north of Goodwin Ave. at FM 3510 and south of Pulliam Dr., in the City’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. The first public hearing will be held October 6, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. and the second meeting will be held on October 14, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. Both hearings will be held in the City Council Chambers, 108 Second Street, Pleasanton, Texas. “WATER & WASTEWATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS 2013-2014” (TxCDBG #713079) for the City of Charlotte, Texas

Separate sealed bids for “WATER & WASTEWATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS 2013-2014” TxCDBG#713079 for the City of Charlotte will be received at Charlotte City Hall, 316 Jourdanton Ave., Charlotte, Texas 78011 until 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2014 at which time all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Any bids received after closing time will be rejected and returned to the bidder unopened.

The Wastewater System Improvements will consist of the furnishing and installation of approximately 2,760 L.F. 8” SDR 35 PVC sewer pipe, 70 L.F. bore of 12” steel casing with 8” SDR 35 carrier pipe, 97 L.F. 12” steel casing with 8” SDR 35 carrier pipe laid in open trench, removal of 7 existing manholes, construction of 16 new manholes and other appurtenances. The Water System Improvements will consist of the furnishing and installation of approximately 1,315 L.F. of 6” PVC C900 waterline, 0.25 tons of ductile iron fittings, one (1) fire hydrant, 6 each of 6” gate valves and boxes, service reconnections and other appurtenances.

The Information for Bidders, Form of Bid, Form of Contract, Specifications, Forms of Bid Bond, Performance and Payment Bond and other contract documents may be examined at the office of KLEIN & COPE ENGINEERING, INC., 8611 Botts Lane, San Antonio, Texas 78217 (210-828-7070, fax 210- 828-7076). Copies may be obtained at the office of the Engineer upon a non-refundable payment of $70.00 per set. There is an additional $10.00 non-refundable mailing fee for each set.

Each bid must be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid issued by an acceptable surety. A certified check or bank draft made payable to the Owner may be submitted in lieu of the Bid Bond. Bids must be submitted on forms furnished. No bid may be withdrawn for 60 days after the above scheduled closing time for receipt of bids.

The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities in the bid and to reject any or all bids.

Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirement as to the conditions of employment to be observed and to the fact that not less than the Federally Determined Prevailing Wage Rates, as issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture and contained in the contract documents MUST be paid on this project. In addition, the successful bidder must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

Attention is called to General Conditions 141: “Restrictions of Public Buildings and Public Works Projects”. The bidder certifies by the submission of its bid that it: 1. Is not a Contractor of a foreign country included in the USTR list. 2. Has not or will not enter into any subcontract with a subcontractor of a foreign country included on the USTR list.

THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE has received an award of Federal Money from the Texas Community Development Program Fund through the Texas Department of Agriculture for the construction of certain water and wastewater system improvements.
