Halpin Christal Halpin 56, of Victoria, passed away Saturday, July 24th, 2010 ten days after she suffered a massive heart attack. She was born a twin April 14, 1954 in Alice, the daughter of Jim and Ethel Bailey. Christal retired in 2006 after 30 years of being a public school teacher. She was a member of Baptist Temple Church. Her family finds great comfort knowing that she is in the care of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Christal graduated from Texas A & I in Kingsville in 1976. This was also the same year she married her husband Steve Halpin. Upon graduation she taught elementary school for three years in Campbellton. They moved from Pleasanton in 1980 to Victoria. Teaching jobs were not available that year in Victoria so she commuted to Cuero for eight years where she taught at Hunt Elementary. Finally in 1988 she started teaching at FW Gross in Victoria. She retired from there in 2006. Being a teacher for 30 years it’s impossible to know the numbers of lives she touched and impacted either as students or faculty. She was active in her Emmaus group and performed several years in the Christmas Pageant at Northside Baptist Church. She also performed in their choir. After retirement she enjoyed and truly fulfilled her new role as full-time Grandma. Christal was the epitome of that saying. She is survived by her husband of 34 years Steve Halpin and their only child Justin L. Halpin and his wife Stephanie; her two sisters Christine Montgomery (Leonard) of Pleasanton, and Margaret Yancey (Pat) of Houston.
