Edwards Cliff Forest Edwards, Sr. was called away on May 28, 2010. He was born May 1, 1937 to E.T. and Lilly Edwards of Freer. He served in the U.S. Navy reserve but spent most of his life as a welder with the Local 798 Union out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He welded pipeline all across the lower 48 states and also in Alaska. After retirement he continued to weld out of his home in Von Ormy, where he also spent a lot of time with the closest of his nephews Bruce Hickman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Karen Edwards Diaz. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Gail Edwards; his son Cliff F. Edwards, Jr; daughter Lori Hernandez and husband Earnest Hernandez; daughter Susan Edwards; his brothers Larry Edwards and wife Marty Edwards, Ray Edwards and wife Neva Edwards and Robert Edwards and wife Lafay Edwards. He had eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Cowboy Fellowship, 2006, Hwy 97 W. in Pleasanton on June 19, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Giddens JoAnn (Bryan) Giddens, age 68 of Three Rivers passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Jourdanton. She is survived by her daughters, JoLynn Gisler of Three Rivers, Linda G. Oliver of San Antonio and son, James C. Giddens of Three Rivers. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Virginia Horton of George West, Iris Williams of Somerset, Judy Burns of George West, Betty Finch of Charlotte, Robert Bryan, Jack Bryan and Carey Bryan all of Charlotte; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Clayton Bryan; mother, Olivia (Rogers) Bryan; husband, James T. Giddens and son, Gary Giddens. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 8 - 10 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010 at Hurley Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Charlotte City Cemetery in Charlotte. Hilburn Daniel Scott Hilburn, a former resident of Hobbs, New Mexico made his journey home to our Heavenly Father on Saturday June 5, 2010. Scotty was preceded in death by his father John Conley Hilburn, his brother John Conley Hilburn Jr., and his niece Misty Lee McCullar. He was survived by his mother JoAnn Hilburn, his daughter Melissa Volmar, and his two grandchildren Malaki and Lillyanna. He was also survived by his brothers Robert Hilburn and Michael Hilburn, his sisters Johnnice Balderas, Arleen Heck and husband Bob, Kathy Espinoza and husband John, Phyllis Adkins and husband Dean, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him very much. Scotty was born February 1, 1962 in San Antonio. Scotty was a free spirit and enjoyed life. He loved spending time with his family. He loved fishing and hunting, playing cards and dominoes. He was very talented and loved playing the guitar and the harmonica. His favorite music was rhythm and blues. Funeral services are to be held at the Hilburn family cemetery in Poteet. Camacho, age 77 of Pleasanton passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010, in San Antonio. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Cisneros) Camacho of Pleasanton; daughter, Rita (Camacho) Barrow and husband Harold of Pleasanton and sons, Theodore Camacho, Jr. of Natalia, Ronald Camacho and wife Cathy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Russell Camacho and wife Ann Marie of La Vernia and Timothy Camacho of Pleasanton. He is also survived by his brother, Roy Camacho of San Antonio and grandchildren, Michael Barrow, Russell Camacho, Jr., Megan Camacho, Genevieve Camacho, Mark Barrow, Victoria Marie Camacho, Alisha Camacho, Gabriel Camacho and Ronald Jesus Camacho, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 2 - 9 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010 with a rosary recited on Monday evening at 7 p.m. The funeral service was held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pleasanton at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Kurtz Jewel "Mimi" Kurtz, resident of Floresville, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at 8:17 a.m., at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels, at the age of 61 years, 1 month, 9 days. Jewel was born April 24, 1949, in Poteet, the daughter of Albert Stewart and Gertie Goodman Stewart. She graduated from Jourdanton High School. Jewel married Danny May in 1968, and one year later they were blessed with their first child, Loretta. They had two other children, Michele and Christopher. Over the years she was a homemaker, school bus driver, and a teaching assistant at the elementary school level. She believed in the power of education and made a difference in many kids lives. In 1991, she married Leslie "Sonny" Kurtz Jr., in Pleasanton. They celebrated 19 happy years of marriage. Mimi had many passions: her faith, her family, Dallas Cowboys, Spurs, Silver Stars, and Elvis. Her generosity, kindness and unconditional love inspired us all to be better people. Jewel is survived by her husband of nineteen years, Leslie "Sonny" Kurtz Jr., of Pleasanton; her children, Loretta May of Pleasanton, Michele May of Windcrest, and Chris May and wife Melissa of San Antonio; her step-daughters, Linda Kurtz of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Wanda Kurtz of Temple; her grandchildren, Christian May, Samantha May, and Luke May, all of San Antonio; four sisters; one brother; and numerous loving friends and extended family. Graveside funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, June 7, 2010, at Fairview Cemetery in Wilson County. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Wilson County. Gonzales, a lifelong resident of Jourdanton, entered eternal rest Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 10:45 a.m., at her home in Jourdanton, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 28 days. Maria was born July 8, 1925 in La Parita, to Jose Ortiz and Antonia Ortiz. She was a homemaker and was faithfully involved in her church, where she sang in the choir, and was a member of the St. Matthew Guadalupana Society. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Antonia Ortiz; and her son, Jose Ortiz Gonzales. Maria is survived by her daughters, Mary Olivarri and husband Adolph of Jourdanton, Josie Ortiz of San Antonio, Janie Van Cleave of Austin, and Maria Antonia Rackley of Jourdanton; numerous brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Visitation began at 4 p.m. and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Vinyard-Trevino Funeral Home Chapel in Jourdanton. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Jourdanton, officiated by Kazimierz Oleksy. Interment followed at San Jose Cemetery in Jourdanton. Garman James Edward Garman, age 65, of Jourdanton, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Jourdanton. Mr. Garman was born December 6, 1944. He is survived by his wife, Janice Garman of Jourdanton; daughter, Molly Jo Garman and son-in-law, Justin Stuart. Arrangements are being handled by Hurley Funeral Home, 118 W. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Nellie Morales of California, Jesusita Olivan of San Antonio, Mary Garcia of La Coste, Alice Segura of San Antonio, Tina Ramos of California, Jose Olivan, Richard Olivan and Weslado Olivan all of La Coste; 33 grandchildren; 52 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Inez Castro; daughter, Geneva Castro; first husband, Casimiro Castro, Sr; brother, Fabian Olivan; grandson, Rene Balderas and great-grandson, Ruben Robles.
