Niell The world is a little dimmer now. Guy L. Neill Jr. died suddenly in his home in Pleasanton on February 21, 2010 at the age of 83 He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Surviving a terrible oil rig accident in the mid sixties, Guy had continual pain from an injured spine. Guy did everything he could to provide for his family, seeing his son graduate from Texas A &M University. Guy was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. His wife, Mary Jo Gullett Neill, died suddenly in 1986. He is survived by his son, Guy (Buddy) L. Neill III, daughter-in-law Loren B. Neill and two grandsons, Guy L. Neill IV and Geoffrey L. Neill. He is also survived by his youngest brother Jimmy Ray Neill, not to mention a host of other relatives. He was predeceased by his two other brothers, James Samuel Neill and Charles Neill. He also leaves behind a best friend and companion, Gloria Clyburn. Guy was a generous and gentle man with many friends. If something needed to be done, he would jump right in to do it. A better friend you will not find. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 2 - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The funeral service will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 2 p.m.. Interment will be at Tumlinson Cemetery in Leming. Tatum Lynda Mae Tatum, of New Caney, Texas passed away February 12, 2010 in Conroe at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 1 day. Lynda was born April 11, 1945 in Hebronville and attended school in Charlotte. Lynda is preceded in death by her father LT Renard, from Charlotte; step-father Charles Callaway, from Poteet, first husband Joel E. Walters, Sr. and son Michael Tatum. Mrs. Tatum is survived by her husband Ray Tatum, Sr. of New Caney; mother Pansey Renard Callaway of Pleasanton; sons Michael Walters of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Joel Walters, Jr. of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Ray Tatum, Jr. and wife Monty of Lumberton, and Eric Tatum and wife Traci of Buna, Texas; three sisters, Bonnie S. Brister of Knob Noster, Missouri, Barbara Pfullmann and husband Randolph of New Iberia, Louisiana, Betty L. Wolf and husband Cecil of Pleasanton; three brothers Carrol D. Renard and wife Linda of Victoria, Bobby G. Renard and wife Brenda of Elgin and Manuel T. Renard and wife Jo of Bigfoot. She also leaves behind two granddaughters and five grandsons. Serving as pallbearers were nephews, Andrew Renard, Justin Renard and Kenneth Renard; brother-in-law Randolph Pfullmann; grandson Garrett Tatum and son Roy Tatum, Jr. Services were held Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with Bro. Elbert Milstead officiating. Interment was at Antioch Cemetery. Wharton Richard Doyle Wharton, age 74 of Pleasanton, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Mr. Wharton was born May 17, 1935. He is survived by his wife Robbie Wharton of Pleasanton; son Alan Day Wharton and wife Rhonda of Camarillo, California; daughters Gay Marie De Claris and husband Todd of Willis, and Tonda Jo Hennesey of San Antonio; brother Truman Wharton and wife Ruth Krause of Cuero, and sister Mary Jo Lee and husband S.E. of Mt Pleasant. Richard is also survived by grandchildren Joshua and his wife Annette, Justin and Jessica Hennesey, and Heather and Rylan Wharton , and great grandchildren Kristina and Morgan Hennesey. He was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey Dean and Mary Josephine (Carberry) Wharton; sister Doris Wharton, and wife Ada Mae (Porter) Wharton. A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Pleasanton Church of Christ in Pleasanton. Shearin Calvin Taylor Shearin of Pleasanton passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the age of 85. Calvin was born July 16, 1924 in Warren Co., North Carolina. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, an avid gardener, and a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Margie Shearin of Pleasanton; daughter Sybil Shearin of Boston, Massachusetts; brothers Ezra Shearin of Torrance, California and John Kinchen Shearin of Ocala, Florida. He is also survived by sisters Zella Knight of Henderson, North Carolina and Jean Martin of Vienna, Virgina. A memorial service was held Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. She left this Earth on February 17, 2010 in Corpus Christi. Preceding her in death was her husband, Clarence E. Harris; her parents Carmen and Aileen LaBauve and sister Doris Smith. She is survived by her daughter Karen Harris of Corpus Christi, her sister Annie Garza of Pleasanton; brothers Carmen and James LaBauve, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who loved Hazel dearly. Affectionately known as ‘the card lady’ Hazel always remembered birthdays and special occasions, always had a kind word and a supportive ear for those who needed it, and always loved her country and gospel music. She will be missed and the warmth she spread will live on in us all. Cremation was performed by Guardian Cremation and Funeral of Corpus Christi. Bogert Gerald Neil Bogert beloved husband, father and grandfather, age 74 of Somerset passed away Monday, February 22, 2010 at his residence. He will be missed so much. He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Margaret (Detrich) Bogert. He is survived by his wife Barbara Bogert of Somerset; sons William and Laura Bogert of Hondo, Neal and Rev. Karyn Bogert of Cleveland, Tennessee, Tracy and Rachel Bogert of Somerset; brothers Richard Bogert of Wellsville, Kansas, Douglas Bogert of Michigan; sister Pamela Bogert of Michigan; grandchildren, Casey and Cody Bogert, Melody Pierce and Serenity Bogert; great-grandchild William Lochlin Bogert. Graveside service will be held Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Brummett Cemetery in Bigfoot with interment immediately following. Seaton Geraldine Gawlik Seaton passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the age of 59. She was preceded in death by her father, Lucian Gawlik. She is survived by her mother, Alice Gawlik; sister, Margie Ripple and husband Don; brothers, Mark Gawlik and wife Tara, and Gerald Gawlik and wife Christie; nieces, Amber Gawlik, Aimee Farley, Bethany Gawlik, Shelbee Ripple, Kelsey Ripple, Alexis Whitaker and Brooke Whitaker; nephews, Johnathon Gawlik, Mitchell Gawlik and Darren Ripple. She was born in Floresville and raised in Jourdanton, but has lived in San Antonio for the past 40 years. She was an employee of Central Freight Lines for the past 38 years. She was also a part-time employee of the AT&T Center for the SA Spurs ticket sales. She shared a few very proud moments with the SA Spurs as she was able to receive 2 of their championship rings. She was a member of the SA Stock Show and Rodeo for many years. She loved being around family and friends, especially during the Gawlik coast trips and Christmas time. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in San Antonio. Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 2-9 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Jourdanton.
